GITAM to host ICCM-2011

‘Almost all industries are using condition monitoring for diagnosis of problems'
  • The conference aims at bringing experts from all over the world onto one platform
  • GITAM University to start M.Tech programme in embedded system from next academic year
Visakhapatnam: GITAM University will host the International Conference on Condition Monitoring (ICCM) on February 25 and 26, 2011, president of Condition Monitoring Society of India and NSTL Director V. Bhujanga Rao said.

The ICCM-2011 would be organised jointly by GITAM University's Mechanical Department, Condition Monitoring Society of India (CMSI) and Condition Monitoring and Diagnostic Engineering Management (COMADEM) International at GITAM University, Dr. Bhujanga Rao informed while releasing the first bulletin of ICCM 2011 on Monday.
Condition monitoring was an interdisciplinary subject and a lot work was done particularly by the ECE and electronics experts. Mathematics and physics were also involved in this field. Almost all industries were using condition monitoring for diagnosis of problems, particularly the steel plants, ships, helicopters, railways and processing plants, he said.

He hoped that this conference would bring experts from all over the world onto one platform to discuss the new challenges and solutions. Vice-Chancellor G. Subramanyam said that GITAM University actively engaged with professional organisations to acquire new technological developments. A lot of research was going on in the university in mechanical engineering.

The university decided to start M.Tech programme in embedded system from the next academic year under the guidance of NSTL scientists.

Pro Vice-Chancellor D. Harinarayana, Registrar M. Potha Raju, NSTL Additional Director P.V.S. Ganesh Kumar, NSTL Associate Director K.V.S.S. Murhty, Institute of Technology Principal D. Prasada Rao, Assistant Principal M.R.S. Satyanarayana and ICCM convenor S. Kamaluddin participated in this meeting.

The following subjects would be discussed during the conference: Maintenance management , vibration monitoring, materials and structural health monitoring , infra red thermography, condition monitoring and diagnosis , motor current signature analysis methods and technologies, oil/wear debris analysis, ferrography , ultrasonics for condition monitoring, online/real time condition monitoring, tool wear monitoring systems , expert systems, neural networks and case studies in condition monitoring.
